Wilderness: "When God finds us in the Detour"

Mid-Week Encouragement
When Detours Become Turning Points
Life is full of unexpected detours—moments when we look up and realize we’re not where we thought we’d be. Maybe we’ve made choices that seemed right at the time, but now we feel lost, uncertain, and distant from the life God intended for us. It’s easy to stay stuck in that place, thinking we've gone too far to make things right. But here’s the challenge: God’s love doesn’t just wait for us; He runs to meet us when we decide to turn back, just like the father in the story of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32).
The real question isn’t how far you’ve gone, but whether you’re willing to come back. Are you ready to stop settling for less than God’s best? His grace isn’t just a safety net—it’s an invitation to transformation. If you feel like you’re on the wrong path, don’t keep walking it. The detour can be the very thing God uses to bring you closer to Him. But it requires the courage to admit where you are and take the step back toward Him. Don’t let pride, fear, or shame hold you back from the fullness of life God has for you. The road home is open, but you have to make the move.
Mid-Week Devotion
Recognizing the Detour
Scripture: “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.” (Luke 15:20)
Reflection: The prodigal son took a detour that led him far from home. But even in the mess, his father’s love never wavered. No matter how far off course you feel, God is right there, ready to embrace you. Take a moment to reflect on areas of your life where you might be on a detour, feeling distant from God. Know that He’s not angry or disappointed—He’s waiting to welcome you back with love and grace.
Prayer: God, thank You for never giving up on me, even when I lose my way. Help me to recognize where I’ve drifted from You and to return to Your loving arms. Lead me back to Your purpose and guide me on the right path.
