Midweek Devotion: The One Who Didn’t Stay Distant
Scripture:
“Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage…”
– Philippians 2:6
Reflection:
When we asked, “Is Jesus really the Son of God?” this past Sunday, we were reminded: Jesus didn’t just claim divinity—He backed it up with humility, love, and unmatched authority. And most importantly, He came near.
He could’ve stayed in heaven, untouched by human pain. But instead, He stepped into skin and bone, into hunger and betrayal, into our broken world—and bore it all. The Creator entered His own creation—not to condemn it, but to save it.
And that means something powerful for your Wednesday:
So what do we do with a God who came close?
We stop running. We rest. We worship.
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for coming near. You didn’t stay far off or aloof. You entered our world with love, humility, and power. Help me follow You, not just in belief, but in surrender. Amen.
Coming Up Sunday: “Isn’t Christianity Just a Crutch?”
You’ve probably heard it: “Religion is just a crutch for the weak.”
But what if it’s more than that?
What if admitting your weakness is actually the first step toward real strength?
This Sunday, we’re tackling the stereotype—and discovering the freedom of depending on a Savior who’s not just our crutch… but our cure.
Don’t miss it.

And that means something powerful for your Wednesday:
- If Jesus really is the Son of God, then you are not alone in your struggle.
- Your prayers aren’t whispers into the dark—they’re heard by the One who knows your heart.
- Your identity isn’t based on how strong you are—but on the strength of the One who came for you.
So what do we do with a God who came close?
We stop running. We rest. We worship.
